Young Adult Male Mountain Lion Captured and Collared in the Gabilan Range
This past weekend our California Carnivores team captured and collared a young adult male mountain lion in the Gabilan Range who was initially reported for depredating on goats.
Thanks to the amazing cooperation of the goats' owners and our close collaboration with California Department of Fish & Wildlife (CDFW), our team was granted permission to work on the property for the capture as well as to continue their research on mountain lions in the area. The data collected from this particular animal will provide key information on the connectivity between mountain lion populations in the southern portion of the Santa Cruz Mountains and the Gabilan Range.
This work is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Wildlife Conservation Network and permitting support from CDFW.
